Stopping Bullets From Being Fired

Ukraine. Nowadays it is a very hot topic. What is Ukrainian? Ukrainian now means united, unstoppable, unleashed. And what about Ukrainian art? ‘Art can’t stop a bullet, but it can stop a bullet from being fired,‘ a wiseman said. This is the main motto of Ukrainian art these days. Let’s name it conceptually. UART. UART is to bring peace to the world, even during the war! UART is a concept of an international platform, both online and offline, where Ukrainian artists (painters, digital artists, photographers, sculptors, musicians, designers) are represented.

The project is going to unite artistic people with the Ukrainian cultural code and identity in their DNA. Also UART is for international exhibitions, shows, and workshops that demonstrate our global values and the true essence of the Ukrainian community: peace, art, and freedom.

The first art exhibition of the UART project took place at One Art Space, a contemporary art gallery located in TriBeCa, New York City, on April 1-2. It was a thematic event titled ‘Stand With Ukraine‘ in support of Ukraine. Artworks of 16 Ukrainian artists of the UART project and many more were on display. Their art reflects the atrocities and feelings that Ukrainian society is currently experiencing. Hundreds of New Yorkers showed interest and excitement at the works of the Ukrainian artists, noting their unique and sharp style. The American curator of the exhibition was David De Hannay, the Ukrainian curators were UART project founders Helen Labartkava-Verdi and Andy Verdi. They thank everyone who took part in the show and shared emotions and feelings of Ukrainians. Learn more on the website uart.gallery and Instagram. To be continued…
