Miley Jo Q

What is your pet’s name, breed, where do they live, and how old? Why did you choose this name?
Miley Jo is a nine-year-old Chorkie. She’s half yorkie and half chihuahua. We live in the Sunshine State, Florida, in the Tampa Bay Area.
She is named after Miley Cyrus, one of my favorite singers. Her middle name is Jo, which is very special to me. My grandmother has always called me Jo, as well as my husband, and a few close friends. Naming her Miley Jo seemed fitting.

As a fashion model, could you tell us about the brands you have collaborated with? What are the criteria for choosing a brand? What are your values?
We have collaborated with many brands. Both human and pet products. From pet food, supplements, beds, toys, clothing, grooming products, and more. I’m very choosy as to who we work with, I will not promote something unsafe, or that I would not personally purchase or use. We enjoy working with companies who give back to animals in need and support causes we believe in. We are huge animal advocates. We also love to support our local businesses as well.

Your schedule is planned a year in advance, including fashion shows and frequent trips. How does your dog manage to recover from such a dynamic lifestyle?
We stay busy, and travel is a big part of Miley Jo’s life. We both love to travel. Miley Jo has so much fun attending events and getting there is half the fun. Airport fun is just the beginning, from shopping to snacking, and the excitement of getting on the plane to our destination. Flying is always exciting, and she can’t wait to get on the plane. Generally, she’ll watch out the window for a bit, watch tv, and then nap the rest of the way. Once we land, she can’t wait to collect our bags and hop in an Uber to the hotel. We settle into the hotel, then relax and explore. We have the best of times from the moment we start our trips, to the main event, to the flight home. It’s all about having fun and enjoying the amazing opportunities. I often think the excitement and anticipation keeps us going and in great spirits. Once we arrive home and the adrenaline wears off, we are tired, a nap is in order. Miley Jo loves her experiences and is always ready to go somewhere!

Let’s have a look at your wardrobe. What items have you prepared for this summer season? What is your favorite brand?
Miley Jo has multiple closets, with elaborate dresses, rompers, tiaras, shoes, boots, sunglasses and jewelry. As well, as more laid-back everyday wear. The majority of her clothing and accessories are custom made or boutique. She does have one closet of retail, which is generally worn as play clothes and for influencing. Her summer apparel is more lightweight to keep cool, cute sundresses, tutus, and often featuring hats, hairbows, and sunglasses. We do have some favorite designers and brands. She models for Pet Couturier, Anthony Rubio, his designs are over the top beautiful and amazing. We are always in awe with his designs. Miley Jo also works with Cindy with Parisian Pets. Her style is cozy, cute, and trendy apparel, we love it! I have a close friend, Marie Parker, of Pretty Paws Apparel who makes custom designs for Miley Jo. She has lots of adorable and stylish outfits and accessories made by Marie. Miley Jo does love to shop and when we are out and about shopping, she always gets something. Usually, a toy and a new outfit. She has clothing from PetSmart, and I’m a big fan of online shopping, which means Amazon, Shein, and Tik Tok shops.

What advice would you give to aspiring fashion model dogs?
My advice to aspiring fashion model dogs is to follow your dreams, they do come true, always believe anything is possible. I never dreamed Miley Jo would have the experiences and opportunities that she has had. I couldn’t be prouder of her. Although the runway isn’t for everyone, it’s so much fun, but it can be scary or overwhelming to some dogs. With many people present, the hustle and bustle, music, sounds, and the excitement can be too much. Miley Jo loves all of it. However, not every dog will feel comfortable and enjoy it, it can’t be forced, it has to be something they truly enjoy. There are other opportunities that are low key, and easier for dogs that don’t handle lights, noise, and crowds. Just don’t ever give up and have fun with whatever you do. You and your dog enjoying life and having fun is the most important part.

Is this your first appearance at the Dog Art Show, or have you participated in contemporary art exhibitions before?
We are delighted to be part of the Dog Art Show, it’s an honor. As far as participating in other art exhibitions, she has not participated quite like this previously.
I do participate in Filmfests, in the photography category, not as much this past year though. I love photography and Miley Jo loves to model. It’s a win- win for both of us.

Can you share the skincare, shampoo, and perfume brands you use?
We do have some favorite skincare products for Miley Jo. One of our favorite shampoos is Skout’s Honor. It’s a shampoo and conditioner with probiotics. It has a great scent and leaves her hair soft and silky, it’s gentle on her skin too. We keep wipes handy to wash her face daily, and always keep a pack in our vehicles to wipe her feet and clean up. Yes, our little princess does get dirty, she takes great joy in head diving into the dirt at the dog park or in the sand at the beach. She is a diva but she’s not afraid to have fun and get dirty!
