Today, “Travel to Art” continues expanding its editorial focus toward the evolving creative landscape of Texas – a region where fashion, film, hospitality, and digital culture are increasingly shaping a new cultural identity for the American South.
As Dallas emerges as one of the most dynamic creative ecosystems in the United States, conversations around innovation, aesthetics, and cultural influence are becoming central to the city’s transformation. In this interview, we speak with creative industry leader Luis Rod about fashion as a language of innovation, the importance of independent cinema, the evolving role of digital creators, and how Dallas is positioning itself as a global destination for culture and experience.

Today, fashion is increasingly becoming part of the creative economy alongside film, digital media, and the art scene. Do you see yourself in the future not only as a media personality, but also as the creator of your own fashion or accessories brand?
I believe fashion has always been synonymous with innovation. Being inherently innovative, it is constantly linked to emerging trends, which is why the concept of being “avant-garde” is so central to my work. As part of this evolution, I have begun exploring the industry firsthand. I am currently in the design and production phase of my personal brand of bow ties and neckties, a project through which I aim to fully integrate myself into this beautiful world and contribute my own creative vision.
If you were to introduce Dallas through its artistic and aesthetic energy, which cultural venues or creative spaces would you recommend to those who want to experience the city’s true rhythm?
To truly experience Dallas’s rhythm, one must recognize that the city is home to one of the largest urban arts districts in the United States. Pinpointing just one location would minimize the sheer scale of our cultural expression. Personally, I find inspiration in the energy of our festivals, the world-class culinary scene, and the distinct city vibe found in our most innovative spaces. Dallas also boasts a remarkable variety of art galleries, many of which provide free programming, ensuring that high-level culture remains an inclusive experience for everyone.

The project Donkey On Da Blacktop adds a cinematic dimension to your profile. What does independent film mean to you today within the Dallas creative ecosystem?
For me, acting is a profound pleasure, and being part of projects like Donkey On Da Blacktop allows me to experience art at its most authentic level. I believe independent film is the heartbeat of our creative ecosystem; it deserves our full support because a film’s merit is not defined by the size of the corporation behind it. True art is just as present in a low-budget short film as it is in a massive blockbuster.
As a resident of a city with such a thriving, emergent art scene and as someone who values innovation, I see supporting indie cinema as vital. By fostering this cultural incentive together, we create more opportunities for actors, directors, and crew members to grow and continue producing art with a unique voice.
What matters more for a cultural leader today: creating a product, building a community, or translating a city’s local energy into a global language?
I believe all three perspectives are essential, complementary pillars. As a creator, leaving a personal mark is a fundamental goal, but that mark must be deeply rooted in local energy; it is the essence of our surroundings that inspires us to project our ideas on both a regional and global scale.
Rather than simply building a following in the traditional sense, I am interested in fostering a creative exchange. I love the idea of people engaging with my work and using it as a catalyst for their own ideas. For a contemporary cultural leader in fashion, true success is not just about being seen – it is about translating a city’s identity into a universal language that invites others to innovate.

Dallas is rapidly growing as a market for luxury, hospitality, and experiences. How can digital creators influence the way a city presents itself to the world?
Digital creators act as a global window to the world. Through our platforms, we have the power – and I would say the responsibility – to fuel the local growth of our community. Dallas is inherently an innovative city, which is why my personal commitment is to use my influence to champion both small local gems and major developments.
By documenting and sharing the excellence of our luxury and hospitality sectors, we do more than simply create content – we curate the city’s image. We help project Dallas as a vibrant, cosmopolitan destination, transforming a simple visit into an aspirational experience for a global audience.
